Tulsa, Oklahoma – On this edition of our show, we speak with Dr. Ebrahim Adsani of Kuwait University. Dr. Adsani did work as both an undergraduate and a grad student at the University of Tulsa --- eventually earning a doctorate in Petroleum Engineering --- before returning to Kuwait to teach there. He's also the executive director of AWARE: Advocates for Western-Arab Relations, which is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-political organization established in 2003 to promote positive, constructive relations between Westerners and Arabs. Based in Kuwait, AWARE organizes social activities and offers information services (such as classes and workshops) related to both Arab and Islamic culture. As Dr. Adsani tells us on this program, AWARE remains a trusted, reliable, and popular resource for Westerners who live and work in Kuwait today --- and the organization also does much to erase the "negative stereotypes" that Westerners and Arabs alike sometimes hang on each another. Also on today's show, our commentator Ian Shoales is just plain fed up with the media-generated, "gotcha"-style pranks that keep showing up in our culture nowadays (usually, for political purposes).
