Get Ready for Some Winter

Tulsa, OK – Snow, sleet expected in Oklahoma, Arkansas

Tulsa (AP) The first significant winter storm of the season for Oklahoma and Arkansas is expected to move into the two states starting during the weekend.

Meteorologist Karen Hatfield with the National Weather Service in Tulsa said Saturday that the storm is expected to make driving conditions dangerous with 2 to 4 inches of snow across northern Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas. She said the heaviest amounts are likely in the higher elevations of the Ozark Mountain region of northeastern Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas.

Accumulations of about one-tenth to one-half inch of sleet and freezing rain are expected in southeastern Oklahoma and into Arkansas.

The weather service says the storm system is to begin moving out of the region by Monday night and clearing skies are forecast for the area on Tuesday.
