NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Parts of Oklahoma are at risk for severe weather as thunderstorms move through the area Friday.

The National Weather Service says parts of central and northern Oklahoma could see severe thunderstorms, hail the size of golf balls and wind gusts of up to 70 mph on Friday afternoon.

The greatest risk will be from about 5 p.m. Friday through midnight. The weather service says storm spotters and emergency management officials should be prepared for severe weather operations on Friday afternoon and evening.

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman says stormy weather is also possible in parts of Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Indiana, with an isolated tornado possible.
