Four Hurt in Industrial Fire near Owasso

KWGS News Photo

Four people are hurt when an explosion and fire rips through the Tulsa Asphalt Plant at the Anchor Quarry near 66th Street North and 145th East Avenue.

The fire broke out about 11 a.m. at the facility near Owasso. One worker suffered burns when the fire started. Seven fire departments were called in to get a handle on the blaze that eventually spread to all seven fuel tanks at the plant.

Rogers County Emergency Management Director Scotty Stokes says, during the fire fight, a pressure valve malfunctioned and there was an explosion. That blast injured three fire fighters. They were rushed to the hospital. Stokes says all were alert when loaded into the ambulance.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
