Former Mayor Named to Morton Spot

TULSA, OKLA. (July 5, 2013) – Morton Comprehensive Health Services, one of the state’s largest Federally Qualified Health Centers, has announced the addition to its executive office team of former Secretary of State and Tulsa Mayor Susan Savage to the position of consultant and senior director of philanthropic development. In her role, Savage will assist in the development of a non-profit foundation to support Morton in its delivery of primary and preventive health care services to northeastern Oklahoma through its various locations. Through eight (8) locations, Morton offers primary care medical and dental services, including adult and pediatric health care. It also provides education programming, materials and resources for maintaining a healthy quality of life for its patients. “Susan will expand relationships with individuals, foundations, businesses and other organizations and groups in the community that value health care and the mission of Morton. Morton’s mission is to provide ‘quality-focused, cost-effective and family-based health services...to all people without regard to their finances, culture or lifestyle,’” said John M. Silva, CEO of Morton Comprehensive Health Services. “Morton is a dynamic organization providing high quality, affordable and accessible health care to Tulsans and Oklahomans,” said Savage. “Few issues are as critical to the welfare and growth of our community and state as the health and wellness of its citizens. I welcome the opportunity to work with Morton’s leadership and providers to meet the growing needs for community-based health care services.” In 2003, Savage was appointed Oklahoma’s Secretary of State by Gov. Brad Henry. She served in that capacity until 2011. Prior to her state appointment, she was the Mayor of Tulsa from 1992-2002, becoming the most tenured and first woman mayor in Tulsa’s history.
