FOP asked to Leave Patrol Cars at station

District #-2 City Councilor Rick Westcott.
City of Tulsa
District #-2 City Councilor Rick Westcott.

Tulsa, OK – Tulsa City Council Rick Westcott is calling on the Fraternal Order of Police to work with the city during lean-times. He is asking the FOP not to take police cars out of the city limits.

He says that would keep the 21-laid-off officers working and the police choppers in the air. Plus, he says the city would still have its federal stimulus money to add officers to the force.

Mayor Taylor wants to use the federal stimulus money to re-hire the officers, but Wescott says he is philosophically opposed to using one-time grant money for on-going expenses, such as salaries. He was one of two council members to vote against accepting the federal money.
