Flu Season Takes 2 Oklahoma Lives

File photo

New flu statistics are out from the State Health Department and the news is not good. Two people have died from the flu in Oklahoma in the past week.

Both of the victims were older than 65. One lived in Oklahoma County and the other in Carter County near Ardmore.

These are the first flu deaths in Oklahoma this season. Last year, the state set a record with 60 flu deaths.

While this year’s flu vaccine is not the most effective, the State Health Department says it should less the flu impacts. The department encourages people to get the vaccine.

31-people were admitted to hospitals in Oklahoma with the flu in the past week. That brings the total of hospitalizations this season to 94.
