Oklahoma City, OK – Teen drowns in Oklahoma floodwaters

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Authorities say a teenager drowned after being swept away during flash flooding in Oklahoma, which has been pounded in recent days by heavy rain.

Oklahoma Medical Examiner's office spokeswoman Cherokee Ballard said a teenage girl was playing with friends Thursday around a drainage ditch near Durant in Bryan County when 4-foot deep water carried her off. Ballard didn't have the girl's exact age or name, but said her friends got out safely.

The girl is the third child killed in flooding in less than a week. Another teen died in Oklahoma City and an eight-year-old boy drowned in Pottawatomie County.
