Oklahoma City, OK – Henry declares emergency for 13 Okla. counties

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Brad Henry has declared a state of emergency for 13 eastern Oklahoma counties hit by the remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine .

Henry issued the order Thursday for Adair, Bryan, Carter, Cherokee, Delaware, Haskell, LeFlore, McIntosh, Muskogee, Ottawa, Pittsburg, Sequoyah and Wagoner counties.

Emergency officials have confirmed at least three tornadoes touched down during Wednesday's storm near Lone Grove, Marietta and Colbert. Flash flooding caused damage in several other areas.

The governor's declaration is the first step to allow local governments to be reimbursed for storm-recovery costs.

The governor's office says additional counties may be added if necessary.
