Tulsa, OK – Flooding in SE Okla. lead to rescues, no injuries

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A strong storm system brought heavy rain and flooding to parts of southeastern Oklahoma where drought conditions have persisted for months.

National Weather Service meteorologist John Plate in Tulsa says about eight inches of rain have been recorded in Le Flore County since Sunday and caused flash flooding Monday night and early Tuesday. Plate said some vehicles were washed off roadways and some people were rescued from the rising waters but no injuries were reported.

The weather service also issued a flood warning for the Kiamichi River at Antlers in neighboring Pushmataha County where Plate said the river is two feet above the 25 foot flood stage. He said the river is expected to crest at 29 feet by Wednesday morning and only minor flooding is expected.
