Firefighters Battle Grass Fire in Central Oklahoma

KINGFISHER, Okla. (AP) — Firefighters are battling a grass fire near Kingfisher.

Kingfisher Fire Capt. Tom Hendricks says fire trucks and brush pumpers were dispatched to the blaze several miles east of Kingfisher Thursday afternoon and some structures may be threatened.

Hendricks says he didn't have any information on whether anyone had been injured.

Oklahoma has been plagued by wildfires this summer. Triple-digit heat that gripped the state for weeks has subsided, but a lingering drought has left grass and vegetation dry in much of the state.
