An explosion was reported along with the apartment fire near 61st Street and Peoria Avenue around 9 a.m.

Tulsa Fire Department spokesman Stan May said four units were affected at Saint Thomas Square.

"We've got four families that are going to be displaced. We do believe they have apartments here on site for them to go to — several children involved," May said. "There were no injuries, civilian or firefighters."

Investigators are determining the cause of the fire, which appears to have started in the kitchen of one unit and spread to a second. The other two units were inundated with smoke.

May said firefighters had the fire out within 10 minutes of arriving on scene. Residents said they did have smoke detectors.
