Fire Damages School

By Associated Press

Greasy,OK – GREASY, Okla. (AP) Classes will be held in the community center after flames destroyed the town's small school.

The school, with about 80 students, caught fire Thursday night, and was reduced to rubble by the time students awoke Friday morning.

"The roof had pretty well collapsed on both buildings," Greasy Volunteer Fire Chief Jody Fletcher said. "It was pretty much on the ground when we got here."

Last year, the school had been saved from consolidation with a nearby district after the administration and school board managed to cut costs and find new funding sources.
