Fees Going Up At Some Tulsa County Parks

Tulsa County Parks

The Tulsa County park board approved a list of fee increases at its meeting Tuesday.

Tulsa County Parks Director Richard Bales said he feels pressure to supplement a few years of flat budgets.

"Things that have a direct cost with something happening in a park, can I do something to generate some money for that from the people who are using the park?" Bales said.

The increases are mostly on field and facility rentals. Baseball league rental fees will increase from $7.25 per game to $10 per game.

The board approved changing shelter reservation fees from $30 for the first three hours and $10 an hour after that to $50 and $15. Bales said they weren’t trying to set the high or the low standard with these increases.

"You can rent a picnic shelter in every park system in the metro area of Tulsa for $40 an hour," Bales said. "That's an example. What am I renting mine for?"

Other fee increases include a $1 bump in the LaFortune Tennis Center entry fee and an additional $10 for soccer field rentals.
