On Father's Day Weekend, All This Jazz Presents "Fathers and Sons"

Join us for the next installment of All This Jazz, beginning at 10pm Central on Saturday the 15th here on Public Radio 89.5-1. (We'll also offer, as always, a re-broadcast of the show on Sunday the 16th at 7pm on Jazz 89.5-2, which is Public Radio Tulsa's terrific all-jazz HD Radio channel.)

Each and every week, our program delivers modern jazz, both recent and classic, right up 'til midnight.

And for the second-hour theme this time around, with Father's Day in the air, we'll be spotlighting "Fathers and Sons." Meaning that we'll hear from, just for example, Ellis as well as Jason Marsalis (shown here), Al as well as Joe Cohn, Duke as well as Mercer Ellington, and so forth.

We'll also remember the late bassist, songwriter, and widely admired jazz ambassador, Ben Tucker, who died earlier this month at 82. (You'll no doubt be interested in this appreciative obit for Tucker --- he really had a remarkably long and varied and successful career in music --- which was posted last week at NPR Music's Blog Supreme.)

Scott Gregory started working at Public Radio Tulsa in 2006; he started listening to public radio circa 1980, when he and NPR both marked their tenth birthdays (although only one of them commemorated the occasion with a party at Skate World). Scott became this radio station's Operations Director in the summer of 2023; he also hosts and programs All This Jazz, which airs every Saturday night on Public Radio 89.5-1 from 9pm till midnight.
