Tulsa, OK – Tulsa police shoot, kill man who threatens suicide

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa police say an officer shot and killed a man who was threatening suicide when the man pointed a handgun at officers.

Police said in a news release Monday that officers were called about 7:30 p.m. Sunday to an aviation business at Tulsa International Airport. Officers say they found 57-year-old Daniel Leroy Nichols sitting on the pavement holding a handgun and threatening suicide.

Police say after more than four hours of negotiating with Nichols he pointed the gun at officers and was shot by an officer with a rifle.

Nichols was dead at the scene. The name of the officer who shot him has not been released.
