Tulsa, OK – Missing Okla mother, 5 children found safe

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa police say a woman and her children who hadn't been seen since Aug. 6 have been found safe in South Dakota.

Investigators were concerned about Monya Battiest and her five children, who range in age from 10 months old to 7 years old. Officer Leland Ashley said Wednesday tribal police located the family in Interior, S.D.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Ambrose Martinez, the children's father, in connection with an alleged assault on Battiest. Prosecutors have charged him with rape and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Battiest was granted an emergency protective order July 6 against Martinez, whom she alleges threatened to kill her and their children.

The order was dismissed July 19 when both parties failed to appear in court.
