Fallin Vetoes Second Bill by Broken Arrow Republican

KWGS News File Photo

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Governor Mary Fallin has vetoed a bill that would have required state agencies to disclose to legislators the authority they have for various agency operations.

Fallin vetoed the bill by Republican Senator Nathan Dahm of Broken Arrow, saying it creates "an unnecessarily complicated administrative process."

The bill would have established a process for legislators to seek from state agencies their legal authority for various functions. Agency directors would have 10 days to respond or be subject to removal from office.

Fallin criticized the bill as a redundant law that creates more bureaucracy. She says agency heads already are expected to respond to requests from legislators.

The bill is the second Fallin has vetoed this year, both were authored by Dahm.
