FAA: Pilot Dies After Small Plane Crashes Near Woodward

WOODWARD, Okla. (AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration says the pilot of a small aircraft died after his plane crashed in northern Oklahoma.

The federal agency reported that an ultralight aircraft carrying one person crashed shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday just south of Woodward for an unknown reason. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the pilot as 56-year-old Dennis Dale Baird.

Authorities say the cause of the crash is under investigation.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the FAA will be on the scene Monday to begin its investigation.
