OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma death row inmate convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a 24-year-old Korean national 34 years ago is scheduled to become the fourth condemned inmate to be executed in the state this year.
Sixty-one-year-old Anthony Rozelle Banks was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death in Tulsa County for the June 6, 1979, killing of Sun "Kim" Travis.
Banks was already serving a life prison sentence following his conviction for the April 11th, 1978, slaying of a Tulsa convenience store clerk during an armed robbery when he was linked to Travis' death by DNA evidence 18 years after she was killed.
Banks' execution was ordered by the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals in June. It is scheduled Tuesday at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary at McAlester.
