Oklahoma City, OK – Execution date sought for Young

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Attorney General Drew Edmondson has asked the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals to set an execution date for Tulsa County death row inmate Julius Recardo Young.

Young was sentenced to death for the October 1993 murders of 20-year-old Joyland Evette Morgan and her son, 6-year-old Kewan Dontae Morgan. Joyland Morgan was the daughter of Young's girlfriend.

The Morgans were found beaten to death in their Tulsa apartment.

Edmondson made his request to the appellate court on Wednesday. The U.S. Supreme Court denied the inmate's final appeal on Monday.

Edmondson has made a separate request for the court to set an execution date for Canadian County death row inmate Richard Tandy Smith.
