Seminole, OK – Suspect in Seminole shooting escapes, recaptured

SEMINOLE, Okla. (AP) Good Samaritans have helped capture a man wanted in a fatal shooting who escaped from a Seminole jail.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown says two people chased Christian Farris in Seminole then sat on him after he fell to the ground until police arrived about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Brown says the men noticed a man in an orange jumpsuit and recognized Farris from a photograph shown at a police checkpoint.

She says Farris was returned to the city's jail.

Farris faces a murder complaint in connection with the death of 50-year-old Alvin Walker of McLoud. Walker was found dead in a city street near Seminole High School shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Farris hasn't been formally charged and it wasn't known if he had retained an attorney.
