The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded the Oklahoma Water Resources Board nearly $11 million to fund clean water projects in the state.
The agency announced the grant Monday, saying the money will go toward Oklahoma's Clean Water Revolving Loan Fund. The fund provides low-interest and flexible loans to communities to help them improve water quality and infrastructure.
The agency says Oklahoma will use the funds to provide loans and other financial assistance to communities and state agencies for wastewater improvements.
For more than 25 years, the revolving loan fund has been the country's largest source of water-quality financing.
