Enrollment Meeting Halted; Gets Heated

TPS

An enrollment lottery for coveted spots at the Zarrow International School in Tulsa is halted as tempers flare at a Tuesday night meeting at the Education Service Center.

There are more students wanting into the program than it can accommodate. At issue are the high number of siblings wanting into the same school as a big brother or sister.

The Tulsa School District halted last night's drawing to select new students for the program when parents complained about their children being sent to different schools.  The entire school district has been divided into four sections. Enrollment requests from the area that  includes Lee, Henry and Elliot elementary schools were over the number of available enrollment slots.

The district will review its policies. No official word as to when another meeting will be scheduled. However, it is expected to be later this month, possibly next week.
