Enid fire chief dies

By Sarah Rayner

Enid, OK – Enid fire chief Phil Clover has died of a heart attack. He died Sunday at the age of 58.

Clover was an Enid firefighter for 34 years and chief since 1996. He was named fire chief of the year by the Oklahoma State Fire Chiefs Association in 1999. Colleagues tell the newspaper that he was active in state public safety organizations and an important city leader.

Assistant Chief Joe Jackson will become acting chief of the department serving the 50,000-person city north of Oklahoma City.
