Tulsa, OK –
Bill would end mailing of car tag renewal notices
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Tax Commission would be allowed to stop mailing car tag renewal notices under a bill pending in the state Senate.
The bill would let the commission send notices by e-mail. But some opponents say many people especially those in rural Oklahoma may not have access to e-mail.
Tax Commission spokeswoman Paula Ross says mailing the notices cost more than a million dollars a year.
State Sen. Mike Mazzei says the bill would be revised to still allow mailed notices but at a fee of $1.
A hearing on the bill is scheduled for Tuesday.
