A Republican businessman and a Democrat teacher appear poised to meet up in a general election for an Oklahoma Senate seat vacated by a lawmaker who pleaded guilty to embezzlement.

Complete but unofficial results from the Oklahoma State Election Board show Republican businessman David McLain of Skiatook received 42 percent of the vote in a four-way, winner-take-all primary. He will meet Democrat J.J. Dossett of Sperry in the special general election on Jan. 12. A teacher and coach at Owasso High School, Dossett defeated Lisa Franklin of Owasso.

The District 34 seat includes portions of Tulsa and Rogers counties. It was vacated by former state Sen. Rick Brinkley, who pleaded guilty to embezzling money from the nonprofit agency where he worked.
