Tahlequah, OK – Okla. tribe sets extra voting dates for election

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) The Cherokee Nation says tribal members who are registered to vote but haven't cast their ballot in the special election for principal chief will have additional time to do so.

Tribal officials said Thursday that voters can walk into the Election Services Office in Tahlequah on Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday and on Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Cherokee Election Commission also will accept absentee ballots until Oct. 8, from any eligible, registered voter who requested one but hasn't used the ballot yet. Those ballots may be hand-delivered to the Election Commission offices on any of the walk-in voting days or until 7 p.m. on Oct. 8.

Absentee ballots also can be mailed to the Election Commission, but must be received by noon on Oct. 8.
