Tulsa, Oklahoma – On today's show, we look educational reform efforts in Oklahoma --- those that are now underway, and those that have been triggered or otherwise inspired by the Obama Administration's "Race to the Top" federal grant program for K-12 public education. Our guest is Kathy Taylor, the former mayor of Tulsa, who now serves as Gov. Brad Henry's Chief of Education Strategy and Innovation for the state. Taylor speaks in detail about our state's widespread and concerted efforts to gain a federal "Race to the Top" grant as well as ongoing initiatives concerning educational reform --- some of which, as she explains, date back to the tenure of Gov. Bellmon. Also on our show today, commentator Barry Friedman presents a few freshly recorded anecdotes concerning the old "You Can't Go Home Again" notion (a la novelist Thomas Wolfe).
