OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma U.S. Rep. Markwayne Mullin's family has grown by two.
The first-term Republican says he and his wife, Christie, recently adopted 2-year-old twins who'd lived apart since they were 3 months old.
Mullin tells The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/141Yd2q ) that he was initially resistant to the idea because of his busy schedule and time spent in Washington, D.C. But Mullin says he was charmed by the girls, named Ivy and Lynette.
A judge approved the adoption last week. The twins join older siblings Jim, Andrew and Larra.
Like Mullin, the twins are Cherokee. Mullin says the twins have an "amazing" bond and that the girls are a blessing to their family.
