Guthrie, OK – Wildlife Service volunteer drowns in Okla. river

GUTHRIE, Okla. (AP) A man who drowned after falling in the Cimarron River near Guthrie while helping perform surveys for the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife has been identified.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Betsy Randolph says searchers found the body of 22-year-old Joshua Griffin of Tulsa about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in about 8 feet of water.

Randolph says Griffin was a recent college graduate working with other volunteers in about 2 feet of water. She says the group was dragging nets to collect Arkansas shiners for a study when a sand bar collapsed.
