Muskogee, OK – Edmondson, Fields among new Bacone trustees
MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) Two former statewide officeholders are among new trustees named for Bacone College in Muskogee.
The Muskogee Phoenix reports the private college's new board members include former Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson and former Labor Commissioner Lloyd Fields.
Edmondson chose not to run for re-election last year and lost in the Democratic primary for governor to then-Lt. Gov. Jari Askins. Fields lost his post in the general election last November.
State Rep. Jerry McPeak, D-Warner, also will be a Bacone trustee.
Bacone touts itself as the state's oldest continuing center of higher education, having opened in 1880.
