Tulsa, Oklahoma – On the program today, we have an interesting discussion with Dr. Andrew J. Bacevich, Professor of International Relations and History at Boston University. He was a guest last night of the Tulsa Committee on Foreign Relations, where he gave an address entitled "The Limits of Power: The U.S. in Iraq and Afghanistan." A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, Dr. Bacevich received his Ph.D. from Princeton University, and he has also taught at West Point and Johns Hopkins University. His books include "The Limits of Power: American Exceptionalism," "American Empire: The Realities and Consequences of U.S. Diplomacy," "The New American Militarism: How Americans Are Seduced by War," and other titles. He has also written for many magazines and periodicals, including The Wilson Quarterly, The National Interest, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, The Nation, The American Conservative, and The New Republic. As a veteran who served this nation during the Vietnam conflict, Dr. Bacevich brings both personal and professional experience to bear on his scholarship regarding American military history.
