Download Report: Impact Tulsa Releases its Recommendations

Impact Tulsa

A new, data-driven, education initiative releases its baseline report. The project is called 'Impact Tulsa'. It is headed by former Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor.

The collaborative effort takes in 10 Tulsa area school districts. It includes about 90% for the students in the Tulsa area. It calls for more involvement by the public in public education. It urges school districts to look for new ways to accomplish goals of getting students ready for kindergarten, reading on grade level and improving graduation rates.  Right now, only about 72% of high schoolers will graduate.

The report recommends:

  • Make sure students are ready for kindergarten.
  • Identify best practices to increase reading proficiency  by the third grade.
  • Improve graduation rates.

Taylor says the group will use data as its flashlight to move education forward in the Tulsa region.
