Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Oklahoma doctor indicted by grand jury

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A federal grand jury in Louisiana has indicted an Oklahoma doctor on 48 counts alleging he defrauded a government program, insurance companies and other entities out of $1.3 million.

The indictment against Dr. Gregory Khoury, unsealed on Thursday, accused him of fraudulently submitting claims for patients who weren't physically present in his office. Medicare and Blue Cross and Blue Shield were among those billed.

Prosecutors alleged that in the scheme, Khoury represented that he was spending more than eight hours with one patient at a time when actually the patient wasn't present.

He also is accused of falsely billing the insurers for services he claimed he performed for that person.

It wasn't immediately clear if Khoury had an attorney.
