Discussing the 2017 Alzheimer's Disease Facts and Figures Report

Mar 7, 2017

Alzheimer's Disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's -- and by 2050, this number could be as high as 16 million. Alzheimer's Disease kills more people annually than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. And every 66 seconds, someone in the U.S. develops Alzheimer's Disease. These are but a few of the startling statistics to be found in the 2017 Alzheimer's Disease Facts and Figures Report, which has just been released today by the nonprofit Alzheimer's Association. On this edition of ST, we're talking about those who suffer from this disease -- and about those who care for them -- at both the national and statewide levels. Our guest is Mark Fried, the CEO and President of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
