Oklahoma City, OK – Okla governor asks White House to declare disaster
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Mary Fallin is asking the White House for an emergency disaster declaration for Oklahoma in the wake of a massive winter storm that dumped up to 20 inches of snow, ice and sleet on the state.
Fallin said Wednesday that she is asking for the disaster declaration for all 77 Oklahoma counties.
A disaster declaration would make state and local governments eligible for reimbursement for expenses associated with responding to the storm. The expenses could include personnel overtime costs as well as costs associated with operating shelters and clearing snow and ice covered roads.
