Devon Gives $1.1 Million Gift to Food Bank

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Devon Energy has given the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma a $1.1 million gift to support its Feeding Hope and Letter Carriers' Food and Fund Drive.

The food bank said Monday the gift will provide 5.56 million meals for Oklahomans who don't always have access to food.

Also, 550 Devon employees sorted and boxed 259,000 pounds of food during a May 21 event in downtown Oklahoma City, filling six tractor-trailers. The food bank said the number of workers at its volunteer center would have needed nine days to complete the same work.

The Regional Food Bank says Devon and its workers have donated more than 45,000 pounds of food and raised more than $6.5 million over the last 10 years.
