In defense of, and in praise of, evolution: Dr. Donald Prothero.
By Rich Fisher
Tulsa, Oklahoma – The concluding address in TU's Darwin Bicentennial Lecture Series --- which is sponsored by the University of Tulsa's Departments of Biological Sciences and Geosciences --- will happen tonight in Helmerich Hall on the TU campus at 7pm. Our guest on StudioTulsa today is the man delivering that lecture (which is free to the public): Dr. Donald Prothero, Professor of Geology at Occidental College, Los Angeles. The lecture Prothero will give tonight is entitled, "Evolution: What the Fossils Say and Why It Matters." This is also the title of Prothero's latest book. On our show today, he and host Rich Fisher talk about his imminent lecture, his most recent book, and his long and accomplished career in science more generally. Having written, co-written, or edited more than 25 books, and more than 200 papers --- and having served on the editorial boards of many journals and periodicals, including that of the Skeptic magazine --- Prothero, as we discover, is an especially sharp, informed, and well-spoken critic of both creationism and "intelligent design."
