Deconstructing the Twinkie (i.e., the tasty, golden, spongey snack food).

Tulsa, Oklahoma – On this edition of our show, which first aired last year, we speak with Steve Ettlinger, who's written a funny, far-reaching, and often fascinating book called "Twinkie, Deconstructed: My Journey to Discover How the Ingredients Found in Processed Foods Are Grown, Mined (Yes, Mined), and Manipulated Into What America Eats." Ettlinger (whose other books include "The Complete Illustrated Guide to Everything Sold in Hardware Stores") tells our host Rich Fisher all about the many different multi-syllabic ingredients found in all sorts of processed foods nowadays: what they are, where they come from, what purpose(s) they serve, and why they should --- or should not --- be seen as threatening by consumers.
