Tulsa, OK – Tulsa's interim city attorney dies

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The interim City Attorney for Tulsa has died.

City officials said in a news release Tuesday that David Pauling died Monday. He was 68.

Assistant City Attorney Nancy McNair says he died of complications from blood cancer.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett appointed Pauling to the post in November 2010. Pauling previously served as City Attorney from 1992 until his retirement in 2000, and then taught courses on government at Tulsa Community College.

He first worked for the city in 1978 as assistant city attorney.

Pauling has a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma and a law degree from the University of Tulsa.

Bartlett called Pauling a man of courage who provided stability to the city's legal department and his administration at a time when he was needed.
