Date Set to Fill Tulsa House Vacancy

By AP

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. governor sets special election dates

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Mary Fallin has issued two executive orders setting the dates for special elections to fill seats being vacated by Republican Rep. Dan Sullivan of Tulsa and Democratic Sen. Andrew Rice of Oklahoma City.

The candidate filing period for both Sullivan's House District 71 seat and Rice's Senate District 46 seat will be from Dec. 5 through Dec. 7. A special primary election if needed will be Feb. 14 and a special general election would be April 3.

If a primary election is unnecessary, the general election will be held on Feb. 14.

Sullivan is resigning to become the director of the Oklahoma Grand River Dam Authority. Rice is giving up his seat and moving to Tennessee, where his physician wife has accepted a position.
