Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma County DA says he will not step aside

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) District Attorney David Prater says he does not plan to step aside as Oklahoma County's chief prosecutor while the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation looks at allegations of misconduct during his 2006 campaign.

Prater said Friday there is no need for him to step aside. He denies any wrongdoing and blames unspecified "enemies" for the OSBI investigation.

Prater says he welcomes the investigation and hopes OSBI officials will make it public when it is complete.

OSBI spokeswoman Jessica Brown says the investigation involves allegations of misconduct at a victory party for Prater. She said the attorney general's office requested the investigation and that his office will decide if any charges should be filed.
