Cutting Tax Breaks

By AP

Oklahoma City, OK – A task force that has been scrutinizing dozens of tax breaks offered by the state that divert hundreds of millions of dollars from government coffers is beginning to wrap up its work.

The Task Force for the Study of State Tax Credits and Economic Incentives will meet Wednesday in the House chamber. The members will discuss their final report and likely vote on criteria for how to evaluate state tax credits and economic development incentives.

The panel has held several meetings and examined a broad range of tax credits the state offers for refurbishing historic buildings, energy production, energy efficient homes, movie production and other activities.

Chairman Rep. David Dank says he supports the elimination of many of the tax breaks as a way to save the state money.
