Crowd Gathers for 'The Gathering'

KWGS News

Plans for Tulsa's newest park to be developed along the Arkansas River were revealed last night.

Donors and architects presented the plans to residents last night at the downtown Tulsa Community College Center for Creativity.

The project called "A Gathering Place for Tulsa" by its designers is being led by the George Kaiser Family Foundation. The foundation has pledged over $100 million toward the project. It will built adjacent to the  River Parks and the Arkansas River Pedestrian Bridge.

Kaiser is a lifelong Tulsan and one of the wealthiest people in the U.S. He's chairman of BOK Financial Corp. and a major shareholder in various energy and technology companies.

During several public and neighborhood meetings, more than 1,300 comments were recorded and used by the architects in the planning the park.
