In an emergency meeting, the Creek Nation Tribal Council votes “no confidence“ in Principal Chief George Tiger and the council will ask him to resign. The vote was 12-to-nothing following an executive session of the council last night.

The vote follows a Tulsa World report that Tiger, before he was chief, had signed a contract with the developer of the Kialegee Tribal Town Casino that was proposed for Broken Arrow. Had that casino opened, it would have been in competition with the River Spirit Casino owned by the tribe.

It is expected to take several days for the letter asking for Tiger’s resignation to drafted. If he refuses to step down, impeachment would be the next option.
