Contract Approved for $38M Project on I-244 in Tulsa

Coming soon to Tulsa: More road work.

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission approved a $38 million contract today for work on I-244 from roughly Lewis to Memorial. Transportation department spokeswoman Kenna Carmon said the extensive project may start in just three to four months.

"It will be replacing from the ground up all the concrete for about three miles and also working on two bridges — one over Admiral, and the other one over 73rd," Carmon said.

The work may start soon, but it will take some time.

"The contractor has put in a bid that they can complete the project in about 13 months, so it will be another long-term project coming to Tulsa," Carmon said. "Drivers will need to make sure they start planning ahead for the delays that this would cause in their daily drive."

Concrete will be replaced from Delaware Avenue to 73rd East Avenue.
