Congressman-elect Announces House Committees

KWGS News File Photo

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Republican Congressman-elect Jim Bridenstine says he's been selected to serve on the Armed Services and Science, Space and Technology committees in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Bridenstine, a Navy pilot and former executive director of the Tulsa Air and Space Museum, says both committees are good fits with his background.

The tea party-backed political novice will represent Oklahoma's 1st Congressional District after an upset primary victory over five-term incumbent John Sullivan and victory over his Democratic opponent last month. The district is a northeastern swath of the state that includes the cities of Tulsa and Bartlesville.

The assignments are subject to confirmation by the entire Republican Conference after the 113th Congress convenes in early next month.
