Comissioners Give Again
Oklahoma City – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Two of Oklahoma's Corporation Commissioners are giving part of their salaries back to the state because of losses experienced by furloughed workers at the agency.
Commissioners Bob Anthony and Dana Murphy said Monday they plan to return part of their pay for a second time. Because state law prohibits cutting their salaries, the commissioners write checks back to the state.
The commissioners' initial request on May 4 covered the first four furlough days. Since then, workers have had four more unpaid furlough days.
Commissioners want the money go back to their agency. Including the latest request, Anthony has donated a total of $2,300 and Murphy $2,122.
The agency's third commissioner, Jeff Cloud, says he is traveling considerably less than other commissioners and not seeking reimbursement for the trips he takes to cut costs.
