Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. Corporation Commissioner to resign post

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Jeff Cloud says he's resigning his post after nine years on the regulatory panel.

Cloud announced Thursday he is stepping down by the end of the month to take a job as vice president of natural gas with Enid-based Continental Resources.

The three-member Corporation Commission regulates public utilities, railroads and the state's oil and gas industry.

The Republican was first elected to a six-year term in 2002 and re-elected in 2008. His current term is scheduled to end in 2014.

Cloud says he plans to work closely with Gov. Mary Fallin as she prepares to name a successor.
